GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team will travel to Johnson City, Tennessee, to continue the Southern Conference (SoCon) action against ETSU on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. inside Brooks Gymnasium.
The Spartans and Bucs met three times last season with ETSU notching all three contests. Both regular season matches were five-set battles, while the Bucs took the SoCon Tournament quarterfinal matchup, 3-1. ETSU leads the all-time series against UNCG at 38-12.
About the Spartans
- The Spartans come into the week with a 9-6 overall record and 2-2 mark in SoCon play.
- UNCG most recently dropped both its matches at Wofford this past weekend.
- UNCG went 2-0 in the opening week of SoCon play, securing back-to-back victories over Western Carolina in Bodford Arena with scores of 3-0 and 3-1.
- The Spartans have received four SoCon Player of the Week accolades this season, including Allie Sweet earning SoCon Offensive Player of the Week twice (Sept. 21 & Sept. 28) and Izora Gragg being named SoCon Setter of the Week twice (Aug. 31 & Sept. 7).
- Sweet stands out in the top five among national rankings, including: attacks per set (1st/13.34), points (1st/320.0), total kills (2nd/276), total attacks (2nd/774), kills per set (3rd/4.76) and points per set (5th/5.53).
- Gragg is second in the conference in assists per set (9.67) and fourth in total assists (561). Her 561 total assists this season puts her at 32nd nationally.
- Connore' Siler-Nixon paces the team in the middle and is second in the conference with a 1.10 blocks per set average and third with 64 total blocks this season.
- Chloe Nussbaum is the leading libero for the Spartans and sixth in the SoCon with 201 total digs this year.
- As a team, the Spartans are second in the SoCon in assists per set (12.02), hitting percentage (.216) and kills per set (13.07).
- In the team's win over Delaware State on Sept. 20, Sweet broke the single-match program record in kills with 36. The previous record was 34 kills held by Becky Moore against Chattanooga on Oct. 3, 1997.
- Sweet, Nussbaum and Gragg have all hit career milestones this season. Gragg achieved 2,000 career assists in UNCG's SoCon opener against Western Carolina on Sept. 25. In addition, in the team's matchup at Clemson on Sept. 4, Sweet paced the Spartans with 16 kills to secure 1,000 career kills, while after leading UNCG with 19 digs, Nussbaum reached 1,000 career digs.
- UNCG recorded a 17-12 overall record and a 9-7 mark in the SoCon last season.
- UNCG was selected to finish fourth in the 2026 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll with 50 total points.
- Sweet was named to the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team after being selected to the All-SoCon First Team last season.
- The 2026 roster features 12 returners and five newcomers, including four freshmen and one transfer.
- Head coach Trent Dunahoo is in his first season at the helm of the UNCG volleyball team and fourth season overall with the program. The 3-1 win over Northeastern on Aug. 29 marked his first win as a head coach.

- The Bucs come into Tuesday's contest with a 3-12 overall record and 1-3 mark in SoCon play.
- ETSU most recently picked up its first SoCon win in a 3-0 sweep over Mercer on Saturday in Johnson City.
